One of the biggest joys in my life is playing music with friends, whether it be on stage or jamming in a field. It is my therapy. I have always had a goal to capture that joy and excitement that comes from a circle with five or six musicians. This album is composed of like-minded friends and musicians who I have been blessed to make music with over the years and musicians who have had a great impact on me. They are all some of my favorites to ever sing or pick a note!
Though I have been planning doing a project for years, and always had a sound in my head for the music I wanted to capture, the energy and what happened in the studio couldn’t have been planned. It was true magic. The collaborative session was truly authentic and honest. Just folks who love to pick!
I hope that you enjoy listening to this project that is so near to my heart and get the same joy listening as we did playing.

The enthusiasm of young players in the Blue Ridge Mountains where we live, is showing up in Jesse Smathers.
"Being a native of North Carolina, with family roots in the Western part of the state, Jesse's musical influences run deep.
Jesse's ability to compose music and his choice of songs for this project show the emergence of a great player. With a stellar lineup of musicians, I think this project is evidence of a young man maturing into an even finer musician!
This album is a statement of what is to come from Jesse Smathers." - Allen Mills
